I just don’t understand the Oklahoma hate from the committee. They had their problems earlier in the year, but Lincoln Riley saved the season by benching Spencer Rattler for the stud true freshman Caleb Williams. This is an offense that averages 8.7 yards per play and can hang 50 points on any defense in the country outside of Athens, Georgia. They punch you in the mouth with incredible speed and a great, open playbook. I don’t understand how an undefeated top offensive team sits at 8 while a team like Oregon who has lost to a dreadful Stanford team is somehow in the playoff at 3. It just makes no sense. How can they honestly defend that? You have an undefeated team that is the favorite to win a Power 5 conference and they are ranked behind five teams with a loss. I think its seriously time the Sooners get some respect. They are my 3rd best team in the nation and I think after they wipe out Baylor on the road this weekend, they should sneak into that official top 4.

The great debate this week is Michigan being ranked over Michigan State despite the head to head loss. Despite my criticism of the committee’s rankings, I actually agree with this. It came out this week that the Big Ten admitted they had missed multiple calls in that key top 10 matchup. All of these calls hurt Michigan, including a massive missed touchdown call that not only cost the Wolverines points, but completely changed the momentum of the game. Clearly the committee realizes how these calls impacted the game and chose not to let it influence their rankings. Additionally, Michigan State is fresh off a bad loss to Purdue. Do you want to know the easiest way to drop in the rankings? Lose bad games. It’s not hard to understand. The Spartans controlled their own destiny and they blew it. That’s on them, not the committee.

I think when all is said and done, the rankings will look like this. Georgia, Michigan, Oklahoma, Cincinnati. No, I don’t think Alabama gets in. They will lose to Georgia in the SEC Championship, giving them 2 losses. As we all know, no team has ever gotten into the top 4 with two losses. Georgia vs. Cincinnati will probably be a slaughter, but you need to at least give the Bearcats the chance if they win out. The real fun matchup will be Michigan vs. Oklahoma. That stout Michigan defense against the high-flying Sooners offense will be a sight to see. I think if all these teams win out, this is the only option.

Be sure to check in next week as we keep trying to unpack the insanity of the CFP committee!
